Storywalk FAQ

What is the admission price?

Admission to Storywalk is free and all are welcome.

How do we get there?

Storywalk takes place in Upper Frick Park. The entrance gates are at the intersection of Beechwood Blvd. and Nicholson Street.

Several buses run along Beechwood Blvd. Please contact the PAT office and ask for the stop closest to Beechwood and Nicholson.

Where do we park?

There is limited parking along the street. The parking lots of Taylor-Allderdice High School are also open for Storywalk parking.

Free parking is also available at the Irish Center of Pittsburgh, 6886 Forward Avenue. Shuttle service (including a story) will be provided to and from Frick Park.

Directions to the Irish Center of Pittsburgh From North or South of Pittsburgh:
Take the Parkway East to the Squirrel Hill exit.
Follow the Squirrel Hill signs turning to the left.
At the traffic light, bear right (East) onto Forward Ave.
Continue straight on Forward, passing Allderdice High School on the left.
Cross Beechwood Boulevard and proceed down the hill.
The Irish Center is on your right near the bottom of the hill.

Will there be refreshments available?

Giant Eagle generously provides fruit for all Storywalk visitors.

Plenty of water stations are placed throughout the park.

Remember that Storywalk takes place in a park, so please feel free to bring a picnic. There is plenty of space to spread out a blanket, take a rest, and enjoy your lunch.

What time is Storywalk?

All stories and activities begin at 9:00 am and run until 1:00 pm. To ensure that your have time to hear all of the stories, we suggest that arrive no later than 12:00 pm.

Storywalk is most appropriate for children of what age?

Everyone loves Storywalk, but most of the stories and activities are most appropriate for children between 2 and 8. The stories that are most appropriate for our youngest visitors are located along the path and are thus easily accessible by stroller.
