As a parent, you have the privilege (and the pressure) of being your child's first teacher. Take a deep breath and know that when you read aloud to your child, you will reap all the benefits and feel very little of the pressure of preparing your child to become a capable and enthusiastic reader and learner.

We encourage you to think of Beginning with Books as your helpmate as you share the joys and benefits of reading aloud with your child. We can offer you the resources, support, and skills you need to ensure that all of your child's future teachers thank you for all the work you did as his or her first teacher.
