Gift Book Program

In partnership with other agencies serving low-income families in Western Pennsylvania, the Beginning with Books' Gift Book Program offers parents the support, materials, and encouragement they need to share the joys and benefits of literacy with their children.

Each Gift Book Packet contains three high-quality children's books, tip for parents on reading aloud, and a coupon for a 4th book when the family visits their local library. The books in each packet are suggested by Beginning with Books' staff, but the final selection is made by the partner agency as they know their clients best. Beginnings with Books' staff prepare volunteers and agency staff to counsel parents when they receive the packets.

Parents are urged to read to their children every day and are given suggestions on how to make home storytimes more enjoyable and beneficial.
