Beginning with Books' was founded by teachers of children's literature, Drs. Joan Brest Friedberg and Elizabeth Segel, who became aware of studies demonstrating a strong link between reading aloud regularly to children from infancy and their later success in school. The program worked to distribute books and provide resources for parents to support their children's literacy development. For over 22 years, Beginning with Books has expanded its programs, but continues to be a valuable resource to ensure that parents, teachers, and caregivers make reading a regular part of every child's life. |
